When we put our heads together to come up with fun stuff that will still get us outdoors this Autumn, we were truly amazed how many inspiring activities we found. Even though we live here we need to do them!
This week we are loving the idea of an Autumn picnic x
Enjoy an Autumn picnic
Everybody loves a picnic! It’s a great way to meet up with friends or family in a fun informal way. It can be fancy affair if that’s what you fancy or it can be a spur of the moment, seat of your pants kind of occasion with goodies pulled together at one of the many gourmet food outlets across the Peninsula.
I came across this blog post with inspiration for a wonderful rustic Autumn picnic. As well as gorgeous styling inspiration, they give the recipes for the beautiful food.
All can be found here if this is something you’d like to try. How gorgeous is this setting?
The Perfect Picnic Spot
As well as the hundreds of kilometres of stunning beaches down on the Peninsula, there are so many other beautiful places to pull up, unpack a basket and enjoy eating outdoors.
Here are just a few perfectly, picturesque picnic locations. We will add to these and share more on our website.
Fingal Picnic Area
Mornington Peninsula National Park
Enjoy a picnic in the peaceful Fingal Picnic Area located two kilometres north of Cape Schanck. Facilities at the site include electric barbecues, toilets, tables and a ball games area.
Walking tracks lead to nearby lookouts with spectacular views of basalt cliffs and Fingal Beach which is exposed at low tide. The return walk (3km) and access to the beach is via a steep staircase which may not be suitable for visitors with low mobility. A longer walk to the northern Gunnamatta Beach (5km) is also available from the Fingal Picnic Area.
Seawinds Gardens Arthurs Seat
Seawinds Gardens is located a short stroll from the Arthurs Seat Summit region. The combination of indigenous and exotic formal gardens and William Ricketts sculpture collection make these gardens a popular destination.
Seawinds Gardens encompasses a 34 hectare area at the Summit of Arthurs Seat, 305 metres above sea level. The gardens offer spectacular views of Port Phillip and the Mornington and Bellarine Peninsula’s from the lookouts.
A network of walking tracks guide visitors through a diverse range of exotic and indigenous gardens. The gardens are popular for picnics with tables, electric barbecues and toilets available. Disabled access is available to facilities and walking tracks.
If you are looking for breathtaking views over the Port Phillip coastline, grassy hills to roll down or lay your blanket on, then this is the place for you. Sorrento Park features a wooden adventure playground, BBQs, tables (shaded and unshaded) and toilets. Plus you have that view for your after-picnic stroll.
