Holiday ideas that won’t cost a fortune
Peninsula Bakery Crawl
How about a bakery crawl! If, like me, you are a complete carbs addict, then this may be for you. I have a friend who tours around Victoria, with her family, testing out all the bakeries and rating them…and she’s a nutritionist, so I feel vindicated in sharing this suggestion. Follow this link to find some of our favourite bakeries on the Mornington Peninsula! We will keep adding to these as we find new ones…it’s a tough job! haha.
Rockpooling! Rock pools are so interesting especially for children. The following are beaches that have some great rock pools. PLEASE NOTE THAT SEARCHING ROCKPOOLS IS VERY DEPENDENT ON THE TIDES – LOW TIDE IS ESSENTIAL. Rockpools can be found at Ocean Beach – Diamond Bay Sorrento – Pearses Beach – Blairgowrie and No 16 Beach (Browns/Lillian Rods Rye) west to The Divide for exploring at low tide and swimming.
Spot the wildlife in the wild
Visit Bushranger’s Bay from Boneo Road and you are guaranteed to see kangaroos and wallabies, along with other wildlife, particularly early in the morning or just as the sun is going down. Bushrangers Bay beach is worth the visit for a paddle though the conditions are hazardous for safe swimming.
Don’t forget sunscreen, drinks and snacks. There are no facilities or lifesavers. The person in front should keep an eye out for snakes.
Great walks to take the dog
Dogs love days out too, but it is often hard to know where to take them. It is true the national parks won’t allow them to visit, even on a lead, but there are many walks and beaches on the Peninsula for our furry friends to enjoy. Here are some of the walks.
