A lovely slow start to the year

 New Year, same me!

Happy New Year!

How does going into this New Year make you feel?  I have never been a huge fan of New Year celebrations, at the best of times.  The concept that the change of a number at the end of a date means that everything should change, or that we should change, always makes me feel a ridiculous amount of pressure…ridiculous because I don’t believe in it, but I still feel it!  My birthday falls the day before New Years eve, so the need for life reassessment is further compounded.

This time of year brings the suggestion that we are not good enough as we are, but what if we simply devoted this year to loving ourselves more?  What if you as you are is more than enough, nothing needs to be added to that.  There is no rush to turn our lives around and to set big goals for 2021.  Yes, it is wonderful to live life with intention…continually journeying towards your dreams and a life you want to lead, but really they need only be small steps.  Focusing on the step that is on front of you and not the whole staircase.  You don’t need to be a ‘new you’, you just need to be more of you; of all that you are inside.  Keep taking small slow steps and believing in the direction you are going, to a place that feels like home inside of you x

Blueberry Baked Oatmeal

In the spirit of eating like you love yourself I am trying a few new recipes that are still fun and healthy at the same time.  My sister sent this recipe to me a few weeks back and I tried it for the first time this week.  I made a few variations, using some strawberries I had to use up in the fridge and I threw in a few frozen raspberries.  This is SO amazing and almost feels like you are having cake for breakfast!  I heat it up in the microwave for 30 seconds and add a blob of greek yoghurt.  I think you’ll love it x

Letting Go – The Pathway of Surrender by David R Hawkins – Goodreads 4.11

If I had to choose a word for the year, and I don’t usually do this, it would be Surrender.  I have read several books on this subject now and every time I do hear of this concept it makes a lot of sense.  Russell Brand recommended this book as one of his top 5 books so I thought I would give it a go.  I am listening through Audible and I am enjoying it so far.  What would your word for the year be?

Letting Go describes a simple and effective means by which to let go of the obstacles to Enlightenment and become free of negativity. During the many decades of the author’s clinical psychiatric practice, the primary aim was to seek the most effective ways to relieve human suffering in all of its many forms. The inner mechanism of surrender was found to be of great practical benefit and is described in this book.

The Jackman & Ellis Investigation Series by Joy Ellis – Goodreads 4.12

I stumbled on this series with a free download from Audible and have been hooked ever since.  Always a fan of UK crime drama, these are gripping books and great for a bit of escapism.

This timely episode of Oprah’s Super Soul Sunday Podcast talks about our spiritual GPS.  Oprah calls that persistent knowing inside of us our Spiritual GPS. She says it’s our inner compass guiding us to move through our lives no matter what difficulties come our way.  Sian sent me this episode this morning and it helped me out of my Monday morning rut x

What inspired us this week x

Having said I am not a fan of New Year celebrations I did absolutely love the light and fireworks show that saw in the New Year in London.  I felt very emotional watching this, not only as a Londoner missing family, but because of the message celebrating all the front line workers in 2020 and offering a message of hope and togetherness for whole planet in 2021.

Worth a watch even if you are not a Pom! 🙂 x
