The Boonwurrung people are the traditional owners of the coast and land along the northern, eastern and southern shorelines of Port Phillip Bay, you can find out more information about them on our Traditional Elders page.
Peninsula Hot Springs have recently introduced a fascinating walk hosted by Gunditjmara Kirrae Wurrung – Bundjalung man, Lionel Lauch who takes you on an exploration of the area surrounding the Peninsula Hot Springs. Specifically the No 16 beach divide in Rye.
Walks take place on the first Saturday of the month from August to December.
The walks include knowledge of the land by guided walk ‘on country’ with didgeridoo healing meditations, smoking ceremonies and talks.
Let Lionel educate you on bush-tucker, medicines and the ancient landscape.
