Get them out and about with some new earthy activities.  Below we have put together some recommendations for kid-friendly activities that all of the family will enjoy.  Get those kids off those phones and exhaust them with ….

Salty Surf School

The Ranch

The Ranch is a 200 acre, Western-themed adventure park on the Mornington Peninsula. Whether it’s a horse ride, adventure weekend or a day trip to try Mountainboarding – The Ranch offers something for everyone!

Higher Ground Yoga

Namaste! Join Jade for conscious movement, exploration of yoga and meditation and most of all fun. The program is suitable for all Primary School aged children. Book here.

Red Hill Rail Trail

Wineries, galleries, peaceful rural and sea views and fine beaches combine to make this a great trail for a day trip or weekend visit. The bottom section from Merricks is popular with horse riders and partly does not follow the original alignment – so it’s steeper than a typical rail trail.

Green Olive at Red Hill

Green Olive at Red Hill, winery and olive grove, encourages kids to enjoy and learn from the surroundings of a real working farm on the Mornington Peninsula. But its a place for all the family. Enjoy great food and wine, while the kids jump on the inground trampoline and the dog is welcome too.

Mushroom Reef at Finders Beach

Mushroom Reef Marine Sanctuary

Mushroom Reef Marine Sanctuary is a special and family-friendly spot for marine discovery. The sea withdraws at low tide to expose a huge mushroom-shaped ‘platform’. A line of cobbles stretches out to sea from Flinders Ocean Beach, forming the stalk of the mushroom. At the tip, sections of reef branch out on either side. Other reefs lie to the left and right and further out to sea, making a mosaic of sheltered bays and pools.

Rock jumping at Sorrento

A family challenge is the best way of making memories.  Will you dare to jump?

Eat at Red Gum BBQ

Holidays are all about easy eating.  Red Gum BBQ has long tables, great food and excellent Texan vibe

Be yourself amongst friends, family and strangers and enjoy the most traditional Southern-style BBQ, this side of the equator. Where kindness & authenticity meat brilliant BBQ – Red Gum BBQ takes you on a journey to the Deep South.  Details

Balnarring Skate Park

Definitely worth dropping in if you haven’t checked the place out since it was just a metal mini ramp. Right next to the village for easy access to shops and the Red Hill Bakery for lunch options.

Skater maps have given the park 4 stars, falling just short of 5 due to the simplicity of the low level obstacles in the street section and a difficulty to keep flow through the park. Otherwise it’s a pretty sweet setup…check it out!

Chips and Gravy – The Dundas Street Milk. Bar

If you are a Rye local (or regular visitor) you will know the secret spot to pick up the best takeaway. Head to Dundas Street Milk Bar and ask for their Chips n Gravy. Get in the car and head to the Rye Ocean Beach and sit watching the surfers tackle the waves while indulging in that salty carb loaded treat.

kids on wifi

Don’t worry, all of our holiday homes have wifi (Shh!, don’t tell the kids)!
