Mornington Peninsula holiday rentals wrap up the final race results for the Melbourne Cup held on 5 November 2013.
This year, trainer Gai Waterhouse won the Cup with jockey Damien Oliver riding Fiorente to victory. As per usual, all types of accommodation, from Mornington Peninsula holiday rentals to 5-star luxury hotels, were booked to overflowing with reservations being made well in advance of the events. In fact, many of the visitors to Melbourne this year have already made their bookings for Mornington Peninsula holiday rentals in anticipation for the 2014 event.
Fashion
Horse racing events are always an occasion for spectators and punters alike to treat themselves to a luxury stay at Mornington Peninsula holiday rentals. This years’ beauties donning the latest fashions to be seen at the track seemed rather reserved in comparison with previous years. On average, make-up was rather natural while hairstyles were loose and flowing and weren’t adorned with the expected garish hat. This is not to say that there weren’t some outstanding hats and clothing on show and Dita von Tesse definitely turned every head with her elegant and stunning white and purple orchid ensemble. Men’s fashion was also slightly understated, giving the ladies more of a chance to shine.
Incidents
This year saw surprisingly few incidents among the spectators with only one report of a man in his 20s sustaining facial injuries after an assault. The usual weavers and tipplers were evident but seemed to keep themselves in check and did not misbehave too badly.
Unfortunately, the same could not be said for the racecourse. The most sorrowful sight was seeing the gorgeous French runner, Verema, being put down on the track after breaking her leg. Lexus Stakes winner, Ruscello, had a disastrous run, starting from gate 24, wearing number 24 and finishing in last place which would have been another 24 had Verema not been pulled from the race.
Scandal
Spectators were reported to be booing winning jockey Damien Oliver riding the winning horse, Fiorente. While this would normally be frowned upon in the racing community, Damien is under the spotlight for having bet on an opposing horse. Jockey Nash Rawiller lost his spot to Damien when his suspension for his betting indiscretion was lifted shortly before the Melbourne Cup. Rawiller had an abysmal day at the races even though he says that he was over his loss way before the racing began.
Make sure that you are around for all the exciting fashion, track and scandal for the Melbourne Cup 2014 and book Mornington Peninsula holiday rentals now to avoid disappointment.
