Rowdy and Winston are back again for a pet-friendly winter escape at the beautiful Marbray in Sorrento.

Pet-Friendly Accommodation
As an Ocean Blue Coastal Retreats Ambassador, we visit many properties within this beautifully curated portfolio. We love the fact that we know we will always receive great service and excellent Pet-Friendly Accommodation. This winter we stayed at The Marbray for the first time. This gorgeous house in Sorrento is where we enjoyed a weekend getaway with our 4-legged son Rowdy, his BFF Winston, and our friends, Winton’s humans.
The Mornington Peninsula in winter is so different from the summer hustle and bustle. Yes, the weather can be unpredictable but the wild and windy weather makes for a dramatic backdrop.
The property was beautifully styled, with a modern take on classic contemporary meets beach house chic. This spacious house has lots of room for the 2 dogs to play, and the many doors mean that areas could also easily be sectioned off, creating smaller, cosy spaces.
Even though the weather was wet and wild we were able to retreat to this beautiful property which was so cosy and well equipped! It had everything we needed. Netflix for entertainment and a Nespresso machine (which meant we didn’t have to venture out for coffee), not to mention TVs galore (1 in every room!).
Winter Escape
Despite the gloomy weather, there were the occasional dry patches. We braved the cold in search of good food and wine!
Xpress Gourmet Pizza
Xpress Gourmet Pizza offer generously topped pizzas to take away.
The Cups Estate
The Cups Estate is a winery in Rye almost next door to the Peninsula Hot Springs (an easy skip and a jump after a bathing experience) and offer delicious and beautifully presented degustation.
Montalto
We also manage to sneak in a wine tasting at Montalto, a stunning winery in Red Hill South. Classy, yet relaxed, it features an elegant yet unpretentious fine dining restaurant, a Piazza courtyard and a sculpture trail amongst their vines and wetlands.
Luckily the sun peered out and the rain stayed at bay just long enough for us to do the sculpture walk before we had to race indoors again.

Mornington Peninsula – Great places to eat
We never visit Sorrento without a quick trip to our fave store, Coastal Living, a charming homewares store that sells everything from tableware to baby clothes to beauty products, in the most gorgeous designs. Their collection is beautifully curated, featuring a warm, neutral palette and loads of natural textures.
Another place we often frequent when we’re in the Mornington Peninsula is Merricks General Wine Store, a converted store and post office which is now a rustic cafe, cellar door, providore and art gallery. This charming farm-style store was the perfect spot for us to enjoy a coffee and charcuterie board after a day of wine tasting.

The highlight of the visit is being able to relax with our friends and escape the hustle and bustle of the week. Despite the bad weather, it is nice to spend our nights indoors drinking wine and playing board games, but especially, seeing Rowdy and Winston have a ball together. It’s not a family getaway without our fur babies with us. We love that these properties are pet-friendly and we get to enjoy them together!
