Hello everyone, we hope you are holding up okay. Well it looks like we are going to be inside for a while and its not ideal we know, but necessary. This came up on my feed this morning and I feel it’s a good reminder for the day, because let’s face it we will need another one tomorrow! |

APPRECIATE THAT I HAVE A PLACE TO STAY INSIDE
If you are reading this email, chances are you are lucky enough to have a home. This is a great time to enjoy our homes and maybe even clean them! haha The news and social media is a little more dominant in our days than we’d like, but I feel that will calm down in the next few weeks, as we get used to being at home. I dug my crochet hooks and wool out of the garage at the weekend and though I haven’t started the gorgeous blanket in my head as yet, the thought of it does make me feel better. Here is how to make an easy crochet blanket! by the wonderful Pip Lincolne at Meet Me At Mikes x
BE PATIENT WITH THE PEOPLE AROUND ME, WHO MAY FEEL FRUSTRATED, ANTSY OR SCARED
So the kids are still on Fortnite, the dogs are loving having you all at home, but are driving you mad nagging for treats, because they see you having treats…all day…and you are working from home and having to spend so much time with each other, with no chance of escape. This is not we are used to, but it’s okay to take the time to adapt. We will find new routines and a new kind of normal. Be gentle with yourself and everyone around you.
FOCUS ON THE THINGS I CAN CONTROL
It is true we can’t control all that is going on in the world right now, but if we are honest we never could. This is definitely a test at learning to live with not being in control and is a muscle that will serve us well going forward.
TAKE CARE OF MYSELF PHYSICALLY, MENTALLY AND EMOTIONALLY
This is one of the most important things we should be doing right now. We do need to keep active…between Netflix series, so have a break from walking the pavement of your suburb. There are loads of yoga/pilates studios and gyms that are offering online classes to keep you going at home. Why not shake the dust off that Zumba DVD or dig out the Nintendo Wii Dance Party.
TAKE DEEP BREATHS TO STAY GROUNDED AND CALM
Going back to nature and getting out in the fresh air are the perfect balm to frazzled minds. Make sure to take some time by yourself. Light some candles and have a relaxing bath or sit out on the deck and get some vitamin D. Warmth and sunshine are very healing.
CUT MYSELF SOME SLACK IF I STRUGGLE TO DO WHAT’S GOOD FOR ME
So you haven’t been eating as many veggies as you should and the Tim Tams and wine keep calling (oh, is that just me?!) but that’s okay. When you are tired of the snacks try a recipe that you’ve had saved on Pinterest for years, or even better get the kids to help you make it! The kids will remember this stuff and surely they will be bored of Fortnite soon???
In the end, this is a break from the hustle. Let’s try and make the most of it and hopefully not kill our family at the same time!
At the moment our holiday homes are still open to guests and as long as you are good to follow the government guidelines with regards to isolating, we are very happy to have you come and stay with us.
We would also love to be able to help other local businesses struggling right now and would be happy to recommend some of their wonderful services, if only as a take away.
Cosy up and stay safe xx
