Our Top 5 Family Friendly Mornington Peninsula Activities

Left to it we could go on all day about how fabulous the Mornington Peninsula is – not just in terms of landscape (we have the ocean and so much green shrubbery for shade and camping adventures galore) but also in terms of amenities for families.

As you’d expect from a popular tourist area like the Mornington Peninsula there are too many paid for and voluntary family-friendly activities and attractions to list them all. So we’ve put together a list of our top five favourite attractions for families, we hope you enjoy them when you stay with us!

1. The Enchanted Maze Garden

Kids and adults alike will love this huge Mornington Peninsula adventure park with:

  • not one but three hedge mazes;
  • two huge slides with inflatable tubes;
  • an artificial ski slope;
  • a host of themed gardens and;
  • an outdoor sculpture park
  • (not to mention a 3D indoor maze).

We predict you and your family will end up spending a whole day here. And probably come back the following day for more fun.

2. Gunnamatta Trail Rides

These trail rides are a horse lovers dream and a great attraction for both adults and kids since both can join in. Even the beginner rider can enjoy a canter or two on a pony if the horses prove too big and scary. This beauty of this horse riding activity is that it’s done on the beach with the atmospheric roar of the waves in the background.

3. Royal Botanic Gardens Cranbourne

These stunning gardens – now six years old – with more than 170,000 individual native plants are designed in an unusual and dramatic way. Main attractions are:

  • the Lily Pad Bridge;
  • the Eucalypt Walk and;
  • the impressive modern water system.

There is no entry fee and the whole family will have fun trying to spot native birds and lizards (even snakes). Pop on the little cart which takes you round when you start to feel tired or enjoy lunch in the impressive café.

4. Moonlit Sanctuary Wildlife Conservation Park

This wildlife park holds thrilling and magical guided tours by lantern light and which are certainly worth letting the kids stay up late for. During the day time, there’s the opportunity to meet kangaroos, koalas, wombats and dingoes. Bring along the camera too to capture the amazingly colourful birds on show. You definitely don’t want to miss this one.

5. Frankston Beach

The kids will love viewing the life-sized sand sculptures at this popular family-friendly beach. With clean sand and designated safe swimming areas (as well as supervision by lifeguards), this is the perfect place to while away the hours. There’s also a pleasant local café to lunch in if, like us, you don’t fancy sand in your sandwiches. You might even be lucky enough to see a skim board competition while you’re there.

The above are just a handful of some of the fantastic family attractions we have right here on the Mornington Peninsula. For more information on these and to find out about our holiday rentals then please do get in touch with us here at our Mornington Peninsula accommodation.
