Mt Martha Retreat
Beach House, Mount Martha
Wake up to the sounds of the birds
we love this because…
The sound of the birdlife surrounds you and native birds perch on the deck and eat out of our hand if we invite them to. We love the Mount Martha Accommodation for the native bush surrounding the house. Set high on a ridge with glimpses of the ocean through the trees, it’s only a stone’s throw from Mount Martha golf course (golf anyone?).
Decorated with artefacts from Melanesia it is a fascinating interior, not to mention the interesting book collection where we spend hours browsing and reading.
We love a holiday to have that effortless living of indoor-outdoor.
Just like a resort, there are bi-fold doors that make the upper lounge and deck one complete room. So in summer, the kids love the pool area and as they play all day, while we lounge on the deck with a drink in hand and watch from a distance.
For adventure, we walk the 30 minutes to The Pillars. This small rock ledge sits up out of the bay with cliffs that range from about one and a half to five metres ready to be jumped off into the blue ocean, its a popular spot so be warned!
For coffee, we choose Mr Curtis our favourite spot in the village (a 6-minute drive away or a 50-minute walk) and for dinner Volpino Pizzeria and Wine Bar, we always get a seat outside and watch the world go by with a glass of Pinot.
You’re welcome! Enjoy

What fun! a new house to visit that lets four-legged friends like me sleep inside.
Yay! a garden with tall fences to keep me safe. Love the trees and bushes, there are lots of interesting smells. Are those possums in the trees?
And there’s a special basket just for me. No way! What’s in there? Ooh, ooh! a treat from PAWDINKUM. I LOVE THIS PLACE.

'This place is amazing. It is large enough so all guests enjoy inside and outside, and you never have the feeling of being crowded. Totally recommended.'

I loved the kitchen, oven, bench space. The bedrooms and levels of the house were really good for our family. Although next time if we could at all find something where our bedroom is located a bit further away from the kids (ie not the next room). We all loved the pool!!
