Is it just me or is that Monday feeling even more hard to shake off than usual today…groans, but hey, you have to practice what you preach, get yourself in gear and get on with your day.

The weekend wasn’t what we expected, but we hope you managed to have an okay one.  We had lots of lovely guests already arriving at their properties for the weekend, just as we locked down, but most decided to stay…albeit inside the house.  This was a new situation for us with such short lockdown notice, but I think we managed pretty well! ūüôā  Aren’t we getting good at rolling with these changes! So proud of us all here in Melbourne…and all over the world really x

Sending love to everyone out there xx

What has kept us going this week x

 A New Team Member!

Welcome to Eva!¬† Named for one of Sian’s favourite movie¬†characters from Wall-E, Eva is already a welcome distraction in the office.¬† I’m sure you will see photos of her around Ocean Blue.

This week Amanda listened to Green Lights by Matthew McConaughey.  The audio version comes with his wonderful accent.  Loved it!

From the Academy award-winning actor, an unconventional memoir filled with raucous stories, outlaw wisdom, and lessons learned the hard way about living with greater satisfaction.

I’ve been in this life for fifty years, been trying to work out its riddle for forty-two, and been keeping diaries of clues to that riddle for the last thirty-five. Notes about successes and failures, joys and sorrows, things that made me marvel, and things that made me laugh out loud.

How to be fair. How to have less stress. How to have fun. How to hurt people less. How to get hurt less. How to be a good man. How to have meaning in life. How to be more me.

It’s also a guide to catching more greenlights-and to realising that the yellows and reds eventually turn green too.

Creative Work Spaces x

Now that we have been working at home for a while, and this weekend is probably a reminder that this is not a thing of the past, perhaps now is a good time to make your home work space something a bit more exciting and somewhere that stimulates you and encourages you to want to spend time there.

My lifesaver during the last year has been my studio space in the garden at home.¬† I know most people don’t need a studio, but it is so great to have a space to call your own…that you can make your own.¬† I started painting years ago from a corner in my kitchen, worked up to a part of the garage and now I am lucky enough to have my dream space.¬† Here are a few spaces I found on Pinterest to inspire you.¬† It can just be a corner of a room and¬†it can be all yours x Surround yourself with things you love…pictures…photos…plants…travel momentos.¬† Why not create a pinboard and collect images of¬†life goals.¬† I created one 5 years ago with photos of my dream studio at home, near the beach…I never would have imagined it would become true.

Making Fun Habits x

A habit I have been trying to cultivate this week, is to do something creative for an hour before I start work, on the 3 days that I work in my job here at Ocean Blue. I usually have my week split in two, but I realised that I don’t really need to.¬† I think it is important to try and do something you love every day…even if you only manage an hour.¬† Start writing a few pages of that book you always wanted to write…do a module of that online course you signed up for.¬† Just an hour a day xx You never know where it will lead.

Recipe for the week x

These are great as a healthy treat and so rich you can’t manage more than one at a time
Coconut-Date Truffle Bites Ingredients
2/3 cup roasted, saled almonds 30 whole pitted dates 1/2 cup flaked unsweetened coconut 2 tablespoons unsweetened cocoa 1 tablespoon coconut oil 1/8 teaspoon salt 2 ounces bittersweet chocolate, chopped

Step 1  Place almonds in a food processor; process until finely ground.  Add dates; process until finely ground. Add coconut and next 3 ingredients (through salt); pulse until combined.
Step 2 Scoop about 2 teaspoons cocoa mixture with a spoon, and roll into a ball.  Repeat the procedure with remaining cocoa mixture.  Place the truffles on a platter lined with parchment paper; refrigerate for 1 hour. Step 3 Place chocolate in a medium microwave-safe bowl; microwave at HIGH for 1 minute and 20 seconds or until melted, stirring every 20 seconds.  Add truffles, stirring gently to coat.  Return truffles to platter until the chocolate sets.
