Unforgettable Activities for Kids on the Mornington Peninsula

The Mornington Peninsula is the ideal family holiday destination – and we’re not just saying that for the wine-loving parents! Beyond our incredible food and wine scene, we’ve also got loads to see and do for the munchkins.

And despite the are-we-there-yets and I’m-booooreds, we still want to give our kids a summer holiday to remember.

So, here, the team at Ocean Blue has put together a list of some of our favourite activities for kids when you’re on holiday on the MP, and why they’re so unforgettable:

Surfing lessons

Give the kids a chance to do something that they never get to do back home: hit the waves and take some surfing lessons. There are plenty of great surf schools on the Mornington Peninsula which teach kids how to paddle out, stand up and ride a wave. Who knows, maybe your child is the next Kelly Slater!

A 2-hour surfing lesson is also the perfect chance to duck out for a cheeky little wine at one of our famous wineries, with many of the region’s best wineries just a 10-minute drive from the coast.

Arthurs Seat Eagle

Fly like an eagle on this cable car on Arthurs Seat, Mornington Peninsula. This classic family activity is a must-do while on the Mornington Peninsula. The Eagle takes you all the way up to the top of the Arthurs Seat hillside, offering panoramic ocean views. We suggest getting there early in peak season, around 9.45am, so that you beat the queues.

Rosebud Foreshore Playground

This ain’t no ordinary playground – this is the king of playgrounds! The Rosebud Foreshore Playground has been entertaining the kids for years. It’s known for its massive silver slippery dips that even make the parents go ‘wheeee!’ A great spot to bring your coffee in the morning, or gather round for lunch in the afternoon, this playground helps the kids to burn off their bundles of energy. They’ll be sleeping well tonight!

Backyard activities

Would it really be an Aussie family holiday if there weren’t any backyard activities? It’s a tradition that downtime on the Mornington Peninsula is spent playing in the yard. Backyard cricket is a classic, but the hip new game on the block is Finska – a Finnish game that’s half lawn bowls and half mathematics (trust us, it’s way more fun than it sounds). Spike Ball is another awesome new game which is sort of like volleyball with a trampoline – ideal for the beach or the backyard of your holiday home.

The most unforgettable part of your trip to Mornington Peninsula, however, should be your accommodation. Ocean Blue Coastal Retreats has got you covered there.
