Air Conditioning/Reverse Cycle Heating

There is a reverse cycle heating and air conditioning unit in the lounge (you will find the remote control next to the unit)
To ensure it functions at its optimum level we ask that you ONLY operate the system when all doors and windows are CLOSED. Operating the system with the doors and windows open puts undue strain on the system and may result in damage to the unit.

BBQ Facilities

A gas BBQ is provided for your convenience. In order to operate the BBQ, turn on the gas. To light, simply press and turn the burner control knobs. The relevant burner will light automatically. Cleaning equipment is located with the BBQ. You will find BBQ tools in the utensil drawers in the kitchen. The BBQ must be left clean upon departure if you don’t to want to incur an additional cleaning fee.
PLEASE TURN OFF GAS BOTTLE WHEN FINISHED BBQing.
Bathroom Amenities

Your bathrooms are equipped with a hair dryer.
Soap along with toilet paper have been supplied for your convenience. Please be aware that these items will not be replenished during your stay.

Fire Pit

The following safety protocols should be followed in fire pit safety:
- Always have a fire extinguisher (one is positioned in the garden for easy access) or bucket of water handy.
- Keep a first aid kit nearby for any accidental burns (there is a first aid kit located near the bbq).
- Put out the fire completely before leaving the pit unattended or before finishing the evening. Even the smallest fire can become a large fire quickly, so embers should be completely extinguished.
- DO NOT LIGHT A FIRE IN WINDY CONDITIONS. One stray spark can cause a large fire.
- ON TOTAL FIRE BAN AND CODE RED DAYS DO NOT LIGHT THE FIRE. The dry conditions in the area could influence rampant forest or brush fires based on a single ember or spark.
- Never allow a child to start a fire or to play near the fire. Children should always be closely supervised around a fire pit.
- Always use dry wood and kindling to light your fire. Never use accelerants, garbage, or garden clippings to light a fire. Also, never throw any materials besides seasoned woods onto your fire.
Fire Safety Procedure

If a fire starts in the property, follow these procedures:
- Stop, drop, cover and roll – if your clothes catch on fire – stop, drop, cover your face with your hands and roll to smother the flames.
- Get down low and go, go, go – the safest place for breathing is near the floor
- Check doors for heat before opening – use the back of your hand to check for heat
- Get everyone out of the house as soon as possible
- Call the fire brigade as soon as possible – 000
- Never go back inside for any reason
Garden

The garden has been recently constructed and the pathways are made of crushed rock. This will compact in time but in the early stages we would appreciate if when entering the house you leave your shoes outside after walking in the garden if the garden is wet. This will minimise the impact of rock debris being brought inside the house. For pets there is a towel in the pet basket.
Heating

Heating in the main lounge is via the reverse cycle unit. To activate switch on the remote control, scroll to either heating or cooling using the master control button. Set the desired temperature and alter the fan speed as required using the fan button.
Also there is Coonara log heater in lounge room. Please read instructions on the use of the Coonara heater.

Waste Disposal

Rubbish bins are located at top of the driveway behind the dedicated brush fencing area.
Please put all bins out for collection on SUNDAY on the opposite side of the road.
There is a Green General Waste Bin, 1 Blue Recycling Bin and a Yellow Private Contractors Bin for emergency use.
Wildlife

Rye is a RURAL area with sandy soil. The area is prone to spiders, ants, mice, skinks and the occasional scorpion especially in the summer months.
Every attempt is made to minimize intrusions by these insects with regular pest control strategies but it is not foolproof.
Do not leave any food out or surfaces not wiped. This will assist with any infestation inside.
Although BBQs are cleaned and checked prior to your arrival if you do not use them for a number of days you may find evidence that ants and mice have been active around them.
With a large amount of indigenous trees around there will be possums on the roof at night and you may see the occasional blue tongue lizard around.
