Winter is that wonderful time of the year where you can do as much or as little as you like. Enjoy peace and space at this quieter time of year doing whatever you choose. We are sure you know that the Mornington Peninsula and the Gippsland Lakes still have so much to offer, at a much slower pace. Here are just a few ideas of the things we love to do when we get away for a winter weekend escape.

Huddle around the fire

Grab a pile of blankets, make some mulled wine or hot chocolate (don’t forget the marshmallows) and sit around a fire or fire pit. Take a look at all of our holiday homes that have a fireplace or fire pit for that perfect winter stay x

Good food with family and friends

Whether you head to one of the many wonderful local eateries or grab wonderful morsels to enjoy in your holiday home, there is nothing better than sharing good food with the people you love.

Relax in front of the fire

A winter weekend escape is the best time to do the things we never seem to have time for when we are at home. For us this is the best time to have a game of cards or curl up with a book. What is your favourite card game? When we were kids we loved playing Crazy 8s. You can find the instructions here if you need a reminder or maybe it’s your first time!

Blow away the cobwebs

Nothing beats getting outside to blow away those cobwebs. Plan a hike, stroll on the beach or check out the many wonderful places you can take your dog. Our favourite dog-friendly beaches x

Head out on any of the trails around the Peninsula and you are sure to come across some of the locals.

Have a doona day

It’s your time off…who says you can’t spend the day hiding under the doona.
